Behind the work

A creative leader with a background in graphic design outlines my career in marketing. With twenty plus years of experience spanning several roles, what I have learned is to draw the best out of my team with a focused vision. On a long photoshoot, this might look like telling dad jokes to lighten the mood or breaking out some wine at the end of an exhausting day. Keeping people positive is one the things I most enjoy about being the art director.

From ideation to realization, I understand the challenges teams face during campaign production. Having held most roles, the pressure of timelines is real and I can jump in and help at any stage. For me, that’s part of being a strong leader. Collaboration leads to creative problem solving and happy accidents. Bringing together different departments is another aspect of art direction that I truly enjoy and I find it helps build morale. People appreciate being valued and championed for their contributions.

What I bring as an art director is self-motivation, an open creative process and the willingness to consider new ideas, even as a project is underway. Creativity is often inspired through team work and completing projects on time relies on leadership that is inclusive and builds on individual strengths. These are the qualities I most admire and continue to develop in myself.
